Jeannette Raymond to Represent Townsend Harris on New Year's Eve

Dec 23rd 2009

Each NYC public school on U.S. News & World Report’s list of America’s best high schools has been invited by the mayor to send a student representative to help him drop the ball in Times Square on New Year’s Eve.

Jeannette Raymond is Senior Council President at Townsend Harris High School.  She has participated in our school musical productions for the past three years, in addition to co-founding the “Malcontents,” a music, art, and literature club, and the Students Against Animal Cruelty (SAAC) club.  Jeannette has spent the majority of her free time caring her for parents.  Her mother is confined to the home and requires round-the-clock care.  She considers her father, Chief Master Sergeant of the 143rd Air Tactical Division of the United States Air Force who passed away just this Dec. 15, as her best friend.  Handling the situation at home while maintaining a full academic and extracurricular schedule has won her the high esteem of both her teachers and her fellow students.  She will graduate with an advanced Regents diploma in June before heading to college next fall.

Townsend Harris High School receives an 'A'

Nov 19th 2009

Townsend Harris received an 'A' from the Department of Education in its latest Progress Report.  Even more impressive is the fact that it received a score of 88.7, the highest score among all of the schools in its peer group, which includes schools such as Stuyvesant High School, The Bronx High School of Science, Staten Island Technical High School, and Brooklyn Technical High School. The Progress Report is available  online.

Too Many Awards to Count

Townsend Harris and its students have received so many awards these past few months that we cannot begin to list them all!  Please visit its homepage to see all that has been accomplished recently.

Learning Environment Survey

Mar 12th 2009

The Learning Environment Survey will be mailed out to the households of all Townsend Harris students next week. It is important that every family complete the survey and return it. (Once you have received it, you can also complete it online at the address http://schools.nyc.gov/Accountability/SchoolReports/Surveys/default.htm.
The advantage of completing it online is that it can be done in multiple languages, and it saves the government money.

The Survey is your chance to evaluate the school and provide input to the Department of Education.
